For the third and final short paper, I’d like you to postulate an answer to the question Ian Buruma poses in his book: what are the limits of tolerance? Please draw on the readings from Todorov as well as Buruma’s “Murder in Amsterdam” to consider this question: in a globalized, multicultural society that values free speech and freedom of religion, how do we reconciled cultural and religious differences and what are the limits of tolerance? There are various ways you can approach this question (religion, extremism, values, etc) any of which would be fine.
