Violence in schools with urban youth

Chapter V: SUMMARY AND DISCUSSION
This is a very important section of the paper. It is the reason why the paper was written
1. Introduction to the chapter (no heading) (average ½ – ¾ page)
2. Summary of the Study
Summarize the key points from the literature review in chapter 2 and presentation of findings in chapter IV. Begin by briefly re-stating the research problem you were investigating and answer all of the research questions underpinning the problem that you posed in the introduction. Evaluate whether the findings are consistent with your hypotheses (or expectation). If they are consistent, strengthen your argument by referring to the theories that support your argument. If they are not consistent, provide possible explanation for that by other related literature or your speculation. Note that information in the introduction should be substantiated in the body of the paper, and no new information should be added in the conclusion.
The discussion should be strong statements that establish a relationship between the first study issue and the second study issue. Remember that thoughts expressed here must be supported by data. You may also mention anything that may be related to this study, such as previous studies or survey results that may prove useful if included.
3. Implications for Social Work. This is designed for you to address any implications for social work practice, policy and future research based on your study. Suggest a course of action to promote changes in practice, policy and research. Based on your conclusions, make suggestions at a high-level, as to what actions could be taken. Making a recommendation doesn’t necessarily mean that action is going to take place, but it provides a baseline from which to make a decision.
