In the textbook An introduction to Catholic education: Current perspectives. (Buchanan & Rymarz, 2008) on pages 35, 36 and 37 two models of religious identity are discussed: the communitarian model and the commitment model.
Discuss the potential of the communitarian model or the commitment model in supporting effective adolescent faith development and spirituality in the context of a Catholic Secondary school / College [7 -12] community.
Use Roberto’s (2007) framework of best practices in adolescent faith formation, to critique the strengths and weaknesses of these models [communitarian and commitment] in assisting adolescents to develop a mature faith.
