Prompt- Using the excerpt from Sonia Sotomayor’s autobiography, My Beloved World (2013), develop a well-organized analytical essay that explains how the text reveals the unresolved contradictions of American history and the persistence of ideologies that threaten the founding promise of equal opportunity for all (Dr. King’s “promissory note”)

To show you what exactly i want, that scene which you CANNOT use shows contradictions between class. She is a poor latina girl going into a store run by whites. She is treated bad until her mom tells the store worker that she is going to Princeton. then she starts to take care of her and her mom. This shows intersectionality because she was treated badly based on her race and class

The contradictions to focus on are the idea that people are promised equality in the United states as promised by martin luther king n his speech i had a dream, but in reality they are not treated equally. in this piece forces on the “equality” between whites and latin americans
Persistent Ideologies are those of
White supremacy- All races other then Whites are inferior. The white race is at the top
Intersectonaly- The idea that race class and gender play a key role in the way someone is treated or how he or she succeeds in society.
Racialization- Whites are the most superior race
