Order Instructions/Description

Now that you have read and made notes on “The Story of Jumping Mouse,” turn over your notes and write a brief (maximum, 500 words) summary of this myth in your own words. In your summary, answer these three questions in sections of roughly equal length:

What does the myth say (how would you summarize its purpose, plot and parts)?
How might the anonymous author make the myth sound effective or convincing (can you suggest one or two literary techniques and how they work)?
Why might the author have chosen to create this myth? In other words, if this myth were a “solution,” what might have been a real, community problem that it solves?
Be sure to include page citations for specific ideas from the myth, and to work on this summary on your own. The text summary is due in the drop box by the end of the lesson week; please check your course calendar for the exact date.
