In the current world order, articulating to the nature of globalization, democracy, political regimes, and international interdependence is an intricate process that requires clear, lucid, and well-informed disposition. In this essay, I intend to provide initially, a critical analysis of Buchanan’s premises having been a key player in the national decision making process in the United States of America. From the beginning of this paper, I express my disagreement with Buchanan’s premises and present arguments supporting my claims. Afterwards I will assess the most important instruments of national power vis-à-vis the US interests, focusing ardently on national security and diplomacy in an attempt to postulate a strong course of action which will support the specific US national interests while providing an enlightenment to Buchanan’s distorted views.
