Paper, Order, or Assignment Requirements


This task will bring together the idea generation and research concepts addressed in the first
four modules of this course and provide you with the opportunity to demonstrate your
understanding of the creative process within digital media production. As a result of completing

this assignment you will demonstrate:
● Your understanding of how creative ideas are generated;
● Your mastery of formal academic research at an appropriate level;
● Your ability to clearly communicate an original, creative concept;
● Your ability to apply theory to practice;
● Your commitment to high standards of professional practice and ethical responsibility.

During the practical sessions in Week 1 you will create your Ideas Blog. You will use this Blog to
record your own creative journey toward producing an engaging digital story (to be produced for
Assignment 2). The lecture and tutorial sessions held within the first four weeks of this course
will guide you through the creative idea generation and research processes. Using these tools
and guidelines your journal should clearly communicate:
● A coherent and complete concept for a digital story ready for production in Assignment 2;
● The idea generation process that you have undertaken during the first four weeks of the
● A clear body of research about the SAIBT drawing on academic and other reputable sources
of information;
● The synthesis of your research findings into a coherent, well written summary, which adheres
to academic writing standards and includes cited references to support your argument;
● An understanding of the pre-production process of Digital Media Production.
By Friday of Week 4 your Ideas Blog should include:
● A week by week journal documenting your creative thinking and the approach you have taken
in choosing your organisation and undertaking an investigation into that issue;
● A list of your assumptions, value judgments and ethical considerations as well as evidence
that you have challenged those assumptions and documented alternative points of view gained
from your research into the organisation;
● A mind map in which you conceptualise the chosen organisation with branching nodes
representing the ideas relevant to your topic that will form the basis for your research;
● A 1,000 word summary of your research findings demonstrating an understanding of the topic
under investigation and your ability to synthesise the findings into a coherent piece of writing
with cited references (Harvard System of Referencing) to support your argument;
● A treatment/outline of your proposed story;
● A reference section listing at least 5 academic sources that you have cited in your researc
