The Maslow’s hierarchy of ordering of human motivations, as presented in the text Motivation and Personality (originally A Theory of human Motivation) identifies five categories of needs: physiological needs, safety and security needs, belonging and love needs, self-esteem and self-actualization (Barnes & Pressey, 2011). Under the tenets of theory, lower order (earlier) needs must be fulfilled first before higher ones predominate. These needs emanate from human deficiency and desire for growth. According to Maslow, upon satisfaction of one need, other needs arise and motivate the advancement of individual’s behavior through the hierarchy (Barnes & Pressey, 2011)

Iphone has advanced features like those possessed by Iphod (synchronize when connected to computer), Wi-Fi connection, direct downloads from internet. Since introduction, Iphone has improved its applications- and by 2009, it has more than 100,000 applications on music, weather, news, air flight schedule, video and many more (McCray & Gonzalez, 2011). Because of these numerous applications, in 2009, Iphone was declared information technology (IT) product of the year. Therefore, considering, Maslow’s hierarchy of needs portraying basic needs like water, sex, breathing, homeostasis and excretion, Iphone applications places it blow them (Forbes, 2011). Actually, Iphone is the mentor (mother) of halos- hence a magical device.
