Most of your clinical training in the Practicum and thus far in the Internship has focused on the development and refinement of counseling skills. Now, you will consider another type of skill that is just as important: clinical documentation. Developing strong clinical documentation skills will help to you to accurately and efficiently perform various administrative tasks, such as completing intake assessment forms, developing treatment plans, and taking case notes. This will be especially important as you add more clients to your caseload and are faced with the demands of the counseling profession.
In this paper, you will evaluate your clinical documentation skills and identify your strengths and challenges as well as the skills you would like to develop, in order to best meet the needs of your clients.
