The research essays should demonstrate your in-depth knowledge of specific type of non-state violence, related explanations and implications. They are prepared during the term and submitted towards the end of the course.
Main assessment criteria: adequate coverage of main content related to the question; comprehensive and in-depth knowledge on subject matter; clear structure and argumentation; adequate style and adequate length; own literature research hand evidence of wide reading (3000 words).

Recommendation: Start with presenting the chosen topic and then discuss possible reasons (given in the literature) for the existence of this group/form of non-state violence, including an evaluation of these arguments against each other, conclude.
