Critical Thinking in Teaching English for Academic Purposes

English for Academic Purposes is a first-year university course for students who are not native English speakers. It is meant to provide them with the language (reading, writing, speaking and listening) skills they need to succeed in completing their given faculty in English.

First – essentially a literature review of critical thinking, focusing on the definitions (theoretical, philosophical and educational). Include areas for agreement among the three.

Second – the teachability of CT. Specifically, motivation, creativity, and transferability.
Third – instructional and assessment strategies. Possibly include challenges in assessment.
