Review the web sites of three (3) companies that you are potentially interested in working for and evaluate those on a number of different criteria (see below). Pick one (1) of the three (3) companies that you’d most like to work for, and explain why this one is preferable to the other two companies.
1.Talk about all 3 companies in terms of the following evaluation criteria and explain why you prefer 1 to the other 2 companies (especially when the three firms are in the same industry and are potential competitors).
2.How well do their established recruitment and selection guidelines conform to the EEO guidelines? (First find out the EEO guidelines and then compare the company’s established recruiting selection guidelines with the EEO guidelines)
3.What is the career path that the 3 firms outline for you (promotion opportunities, training development opportunities, etc.)? Is it attractive to you? Why or why not?
4.What can you learn about each of their culture? Would you feel comfortable in that culture?
5.What type of job are you thinking about doing in each of the 3 companies (job design and job description)? Could that work elicit normative commitment from you? How much value do you think your job can create for the companies?
6.What did you hear from the news or other resource (internal employees) about the 3 firms in terms their human resource practices that are really good or really bad? Discuss the reasoning behind your perceptions about the good and bad practices.
