Prompt: (1) make a comparative argument about three elements these two stories have in common. These elements can be related to structure, type of narration and point of view, character, setting, symbolism and figurative language. The elements don NOT have to be similar, but they have to yield a good comparison, even if they are different. (2) describe how each of these 3 elements function in each story. (3) compare and contrast these 3 elements respectively in the two stories. Clearly connect this comparison to your thesis argument and show how your formal analysis and comparison serve as a way to demonstrate your thesis. I have already written my paper, but my prof. sent out an email saying, “I have been making my way through grading Essay 1 and I have to say that I am not very happy with the results. You have to completely revise your essay, thesis statement, essay structure, topic sentences and conclusion.” I am attaching my essay as well as the grading rubric.
