Bigfoot Wallace

In the history and tales of legendaries, Bigfoot Wallace is one of the most colorful figures in the chronology of Texas; a hero and distinguished warrior who fought for his people without reservation. William Alexander Anderson Wallace was born in Virginia State in 1817 and later moved to Texas in 1836 after learning that his brother and cousin had been killed in the massacre of Goliad (Dobie, “A Tare” 146). Bigfoot moved to Texas when the state was in need of such a man of daring character in order to domesticate their hostile land, with the rise of westward expansion and colonization. Narratives of his dares have crammed households and filled volumes, a hunter, warrior, and champion for justice of his time.
