BIO 372 Project Fall 2014 Antimicrobial agents in selected personal care/household/food products

Objective:
You will select (from the ingredient list) at least ten different types of the antimicrobial agent (Chemicals) used in a variety of personal care/household products. You need briefly to describe each of the selected antimicrobial agents. You may include the following information on your chosen antimicrobial agent.
– Types of the antimicrobial agent found in your selected product (for ex: antibacterial, anti-fungal or general (germicidal) etc.).
– Chemical structure type (for ex: whether phenol or chlorinated etc.),
– Mode and site of action on the target microorganism.
All references (web /book/journal article) should be cited at the end.
Project Format:
You will produce a word document of 4-5 pages of A4 size paper. The Font should be Arial or Times New Roman, 12, with a single line. Your target audience is people who already have some background on personnel care/household/food products, but dont know much about antimicrobial agents used in these products.
