The assignment is to analyse the film from an intercultural communication perspective, applying one or more of the theoretical frameworks covered in the course, and then present your analysis to the class. Your presentation may include showing and discussing selected scenes from the film (up to 50% of your allotted presentation time).
Note: It will be necessary to watch the film multiple times in order to do this well, and to watch it at least one time as a group, stopping scene-by-scene to discuss your observations and reactions. You should also rehearse your presentation, including being able to locate and play selected scenes.
Evaluation will be based on:
Quality of the presentation – professional presentation, well-rehearsed, interesting and informative
Ability to identify cultural differences in communication, behaviours and values
Application of concepts/theories to analysing cultural differences – demonstrates a thorough understanding of concepts
Self-awareness and reflection – demonstrates an understanding of team members’ own cultural biases in evaluating the behaviours and values depicted in the film
