Interesting Facts & Figures Abu Dhabi HSBC Golf Championship – The Facts • The Abu Dhabi Golf Championship started in 2006 and has quickly grown to be one of the biggest events on the PGA European Tour • It has been run since its inception by Tourism Culture Authority Abu Dhabi (TCA Abu Dhabi, formerly the Abu Dhabi Tourism Authority), it has been staged at the Abu Dhabi Golf Club as part of the Tour’s Gulf Swing • In 2011 the TCA entered into a five-year partnership with HSBC, the world’s local bank, making it a co-title sponsor of the Championship through to 2015 • Pablo Larrazábal of Spain is the defending champion. Germany’s Martin Kaymer has won the Championship three times (2008, 2010, 2011). Other winners include Chris DiMarco (2006); Paul Casey (2007 and 2009); Robert Rock in 2012 and Jamie Donaldson in 2013. • Kaymer also holds the Championship’s largest winning margin, which was by eight shots in 2011.
